Tibia » Content Fixes and Changes
First of all, we want to offer our sincere apologies for the prolonged downtime today. The client patch took longer than expected due to some technical difficulties. But finally, we are back online now.

Besides the rule enforcement changes we announced last Friday, a couple of content fixes and changes were implemented with today's client patch. For example:

* The issue with Jean Pierre sometimes giving out too few demonic candy balls has been fixed. We also added an option to receive additional candy balls for characters who made the candy balls before the patch and encountered this bug. Depending on whether those characters made them one or two times they will either receive 4 or 8 additional balls.
* The achievement points for the achievement "Turncoat" have been increased from 3 to 4 to not put characters who completed the quest before the summer update at a disadvantage.
* It is now also possible to get the achievement "His True Face" after having already finished the Blood Brothers quest. However, we won't reveal how to get it since it is still a secret achievement.
* The Sweet Mangonaise Elixir now also works when wearing a Death Ring.
* The item "coolie hat" has been renamed to "sedge hat".
* The Helmet of the Deep now works correctly on types of underwater wooden floor when under the effect of Coconut Shrimp Bake.
* Braindeaths now move through all kinds of magic fields. In addition, a couple of high level monsters now also cross some magic fields that cause damage to which they are highly resistant. Several bosses now move through most fields as originally intended.

Last but not least, we want to inform you about a strange event that happened recently. Some wizards of the coast of a remote kingdom full of dungeons and dragons suddenly appeared on the Tibian shores. For several hours, they were chanting enigmatic mantras resembling the mysterious beholder language and then they left as abruptly as they had come. And now the creatures that were once known as beholders have to roam the lands of Tibia under a different name... bonelords. But don't worry, even though every trace of their former name has been extinguished, they are still the dreadful beasts dear to all of us. So head out, Tibians, for a rendezvous with some evil bonelords.

If you want to talk about the latest changes with other players, you can leave your comments in the thread Player Discussions: Content Fixes.

Enjoy!

Tibia » Upcoming Client Patch
In Spring, we enabled all players to report character names directly to our customer support team via a new reporting dialogue that guides players through the reporting process step-by-step. Since then, we have extended your possibilities to report ingame offences and upgraded our system by adding further reporting options, namely bot reports, public statement reports, and recently private statement reports.

Now it is time to take the next step. On Monday, August 23, a client patch will be released which will bring us closer towards achieving our vision of rule enforcement. As we already announced at the beginning of August in an open letter, the era of volunteer gamemasters will now come to an end. They will become either senators or senior tutors depending on the choice they made. Consequently, the rule violation report channel and the short Ctrl+R will be removed. Additionally, the public gamemaster board will be changed into a help board on which players can ask other players for help or answer questions of players seeking help similar to the help channel ingame.

By now, the majority of rule violations can already be reported directly to our customer support team by using the ingame report dialogue. On Monday, we will add a further option which enables all players to report character comments as well as character names directly on the character information page. In order to report rule violations which are not yet covered by the reporting system, please contact our customer support via email from Monday on.

Of course, our aim is to improve our service further, both by adding further reporting options and by improving the handling of your reports. We are evaluating your feedback on the reporting system and on remaining problems carefully and will, of course, continue to do so. This means we will look for ways and means to deal with the remaining issues appropriately.

With the upcoming client patch, a couple of bugs will be fixed as well, for example the issue with the wrong number of demonic candy balls given out to some players. More information on the bug fixes will follow on Monday, so stay tuned.

Last but not least, we would like to thank all voluntary gamemasters as well as all retired gamemasters again for the outstanding work during the past years and for their immense efforts to help making Tibia a better place.

Please also note that all game worlds and the website will be offline due to the client patch on Monday from 13:00 until 15:30 CEST approximately.

Have a nice weekend!

Tibia » Client Sidebar - Join the New Flash Client Discussion!
When the first Flash client sneak peek was published back in March, it generated massive interest within the community. Since then the entire project picked up speed and made some pretty nice progress. We have spent a vast amount of time on performance tweaks and stunning new features that will hopefully sweep you off your feet.

Before we release the first big indepth teaser about the Flash client, we want to ask you once more about your feedback on a special topic. Last year, we already had great discussions with the community about the chat console and the item handling in Tibia. This time we would like to focus on the client sidebar, its graphical design, how information is displayed there, and its usability.

Sidebar widgets

You can see an extract of the current sidebar on the right-hand side. The sidebar consists of several elements which we call "widgets". The status bars are a widget, just like the battle list and the VIP list. Each of them contains certain information which is relevant for your gameplay. Some widgets can even be used by left- or right-clicking on them.

Now it is your turn!

We would like to invite you to a discussion thread that focusses on the status bars, battle list and VIP list. Are you satisfied with the amount of information these widgets contain? Are they easy to use for you? What is good about them, what could be better? And why?

Join in and tell us what you think! We are looking forward to your feedback. It can even be totally out of the box.

Be creative!

Tibia » Open Letter to Gamemasters
Dear Gamemasters,

we have already informed you on the private board that the time has come for our paths to split. At the end of August, the era of volunteer gamemasters will come to an end. It is far from being easy to bid farewell to such an amazing group like you - the team of gamemasters.

Yet, times are changing and our approaches to rule enforcement that have worked in the past do not work so well anymore. That it worked for so long is a result of your immense efforts and your devotion. But we cannot cling to old ways if we see that new approaches, strategies and new solutions are necessary to face new challenges and to meet the needs of the community and our customers more closely. Of course, it was not you who failed but the system. A system that has become outdated because time has moved on and we need to move with it.

Over all those years, you devoted countless hours of your own time and energy to your gamemaster tasks and all of you had something unique to contribute. Many times, you put smiles on players' faces when you took the time to deal with their problems and concerns on a personal level or even when you just listened to them, trying to be a shoulder to lean on.

Nevertheless, being a gamemaster was not an easy task. You had to put up with harassment, with frustration by players who blamed you for decisions you did not make, and last but not least, you often found yourselves in situations in which you sorely felt helpless because of the lack of tools and powers. You felt like we were not giving you the chance to work really efficiently and effectively. You were limited in what you could do by limitations which were set by us – limitations we had to set.

So yes, we had our differences, our challenges and we even had disagreements but we always managed to talk about them. Indeed, we overcame many difficulties even though we could not solve all of them. You were able to look beyond previous differences and were always willing to work together with us and to support us since we were all trying to achieve the same goal – making Tibia a happier and better place.

You were an awesome team and it was great to see the support you gave each other and to watch friendships grow.

You know that our vision is to establish a new group of voluntary helpers in the future. A group which is focused on the role of active helpers, providing answers for players who have questions or problems without playing a role in rule enforcement anymore. We sincerely hope to see you among these helpers once this new group has come to life even though that may still take some time. You always helped those in need, you were and still are beacons of inspiration for us all, for the community and for CipSoft. For some, you are legends.

The day when all of you will have to put down the blue cape that you have always worn with honour and dignity is coming closer.

So today, we want to stop for a moment and thank all those amazing people who ever held the position of a volunteer gamemaster.

Thank you for your outstanding work and dedication.
Thank you for your support and loyalty and for all the great moments we shared.
Thank you for your helpful input and your honest criticism.
Thank you for helping and guiding players, for inspiring others to volunteer, for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with the community and with us.

We want to especially thank...

Aestyn, Alevina, Amethyste, Arwin Winddancer, Arya Firethorn, Borr Henceforth, Bragol Amarth, Dragonas, Elfarran Brightsoul, Elucidatus, Exilya, Faerwynn, Fryan Skyseeker, Havey, Incangel, Khazregi, Klior, Kosari, Lantheos, Laylee, Nazzurok, Nietzsche, Ogfetan Riglan, Queen of Light II, Ramorien, Roland Deshaine, Ryrik, Sulwyn, Utey Frozenshard, Virsaemna Heartlistener, Wilfred of Mayhem, and Xane Doombringer

... for having walked this way with us till now.

We want to let all of you know - no matter if you are retired today or still wearing the blue cape - that it was a great pleasure and a privilege to work with you.

We bow to you.

Your CipSoft Team
